K1391D Gatharaini Trunk Sewers (8/9/2009)

The Government of Kenya, on the behalf of Athi Water Services Board, has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA) towards the cost of the Water and Sanitation Service Improvement Project (WaSSIP). 

It is intended that part of the proceeds of this credit will be applied to eligible payments under the contract for Construction of Gatharaini Trunk Sewers, Contract No. AWSB/WaSSIP/Comp.1/W-6/2009. The Employer is the Athi Water Services Board.  The Engineer on the Project is the Chief Manager, Infrastructure Development - AWSB while GIBB Africa Limited is the Engineer’s Representative.

The Gatharaini Trunk Sewers are located in the following areas of the Nairobi City:

  • Ruai;
  • Gatharaini South and North;
  • Clay works;
  • Ruaraka.

The works will consist of:

  • Construction of approximately 49Km of pre-cast concrete sewers of various sizes ranging from 300 to 1200mm diameter;
  • Construction of 1.4m box culvert (1400 x 1400mm), manholes and other auxiliary works.

The works will include procurement of all materials and labour, construction, testing, commissioning and maintenance during the defects liability period.

The construction period for these works will be 24 months.
